The Nature of Change

As an offshoot from my Mothers + Daughters project, this body of works involves the same teenage girls but photographed alone. They are in their own home environments, each unique and familiar to them. Nature is used and reflected into their portraits to symbolize the constant evolution and transitional stage of intense growth, maturation and unfolding. There is also an undercurrent of loss of innocence. These portraits and nature reflections are done entirely in-camera and require a bit of magic to make the process seamless. This reliance on a sliver of serendipity is not that dissimilar to the hope that accompanies a change of life.
