Solo Show at the Griffin

Having a show at the Griffin Museum of Photography has been on my bucket list for some time. I have seen shows there in the past and have always been enamored by its charm and distinct character. It is a beautiful venue!

When Executive Director Crista Dix offered me a solo show, I was astounded and actually asked if she could repeat what she had just said in case I misunderstood.

I spent many weeks thinking about how I wanted the work to be experienced. With Crista’s expert curation we chose several images form both projects from my book Embrace, searched for the perfect scent “Green Tomato Vine” by Jo Malone, and procured the perfect vessel that would hold the bouquet of vegetables I wanted as a centerpiece. Text was also a key element in this show and I chose several poems and a few lines of prose to enhance the visual experience. With my friend Sally Ann Field’s attention to typology, wall vinyls were created.

The show opened on April 21, 2023 and it was magical. The room, the color, the warmth, all enriched the experience. It was so special to have the support of photo friends, my med school friends and my family all there. Also made many new friends. See below for some images from opening night.
